Apply Now!Your Opportunity The Bakery Plant Manager position
supports the Mission of Smithfield Grain by meeting or exceeding
budgeted volumes of bakery meal into the Smithfield system.
Responsibilities also require direct management of company systems,
including cost reporting and budgeting, training/developing of
employees, and implementing and monitoring corporate program
standards on employee safety, environmental management, and product
quality.Core Responsibilities --The safe operation of the plant
whereby employees and contractors are properly trained on safety
and expected to adhere to safe practices.The reliable operation of
the plant so that unscheduled downtime and disruptions in the
operations are minimal and not recurring.Pursuit of and
accomplishment of aggressive operational goals that result in
achieving the financial targets associated with the plant and
related investments.Supporting the bakery business team with high
levels of reliable customer service that allow us to keep existing
customers and secure additional new supplier locations based on
customer service.Produce a high-quality and consistent feed
ingredient with a process that adheres to FSMA regulations and
guidelines and supports the Smithfield "Good Food....Responsibly"
approach.Develop and lead a team of high-quality staff to grow in
the business and can help support growth in the business.Operate
the facility in a sustainable manner as it relates to compliance
with environmental, regulatory and safety standards.Be a good
neighbor, a good supplier, and a good leader.Manages all
activities/processes related to bakery meal plant operations.
Schedules/performs according to all standard procedures and
policies set out by company technical manuals.Manages financial
performance by controlling costs, budgeting, business and financial
planning, and tracking financial activity via P&L review.Plans,
sets and monitors goals, then communicates results to higher
management.Develops subordinates by leading, planning (short and
long term), managing, coaching, mentoring and providing a positive
professional image at all times.Establishes and maintains open
communication with all site staff, management, other departments,
external customers and suppliers, refers all external communication
to appropriate SHP spokesperson to identify potential problems and
initiate improvements.Manages and administers all Human
Resources/employee relations functions relating to site management
such as compensation, records, vacation, performance reviews,
etc.Ensures all equipment, machinery and vehicles are accounted for
and properly maintained.Ensures that the site is operated and
managed in an environmentally sound manner by:Understanding and
maintaining compliance with established environmental policies and
procedures to include ensuring proper maintenance of the site and
process equipment, training site workers on their role in the EMS,
reviewing new worker competency in the EMS, and reinforcement of
worker responsibilities under the EMS;Understanding and complying
with the Environmental Policy;Understanding the site's Significant
Environmental Aspects; and,Reporting all environmental issues
immediately to the Corporate Environmental Engineer.Ensures that
the site working environment is safe, by providing equipment,
training, and actions to reduce risk through the effective
implementation of the Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS)
by:Communicate the importance of safety training as well as the
need for workers to be trained to perform activities
safely.Conducting, scheduling, and/or coordinating all SIPS and
job-related safety training and competency evaluations to include
verification of worker competency in performing new or modified
tasks prior to the implementation of any planned changes.Informing
all workers of the site's safety objectives, management plans, SIPS
responsibilities, and applicable safety operational controls and
holding them accountable to these requirements.Identifying and
providing necessary resources (personnel, financial support, etc.)
to achieve the safety objectives and targets, and properly
implement and maintain the SIPS within their area of
responsibility.Ensuring site maintains compliance with legal and
other requirements as well as those of the SIPS and that all
operating controls are properly implemented to include effective
maintenance of safety records and documents.Identify and correct
hazards within the location by carrying out effective monitoring
and measuring activities such as inspections, worker hazard
observations, and similar methods. Ensure preventive maintenance
tasks are performed as scheduled and corrective action executed
where needed.Investigate all loss causing or potential loss causing
incidents to determine root cause(s) and identify effective
correction actions. Ensure corrective action findings are executed
in a timely manner.Ensure appropriate personnel are notified of all
incidents and non-conformances in a timely manner.Solicit worker
involvement in and contributions to the SIPS.The above statements

allergens (i.e. peanuts).Bachelor's degree from an accredited
four-year college or university in Business Administration,
Agriculture Business, or Economics or other related field, and 5+
years of progressive related experience; or equivalent combination
of education and experience required.Minimum of 2+ years'
experience in a position of leadership to include team development
and management, required.Experience in procurement strategies with
a focus on by meal products.Solid understanding of by meal product
processing to manufacture feed ingredients.Solid understanding of
OSHA, USDA and Food Safety regulations.Manufacturing knowledge and
understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations
procedures.Ability to read and fully comprehend documents such as
safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in
English.Works in dusty areas. Will work in
non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment.Must be able to
work an average of 50-hour weeks, including night, holiday and
weekend when required. Longer hours may be required based upon
business need.Prior experience operating heavy equipment,
forklifts, tractors, or other powered industrial vehicles
preferred.Must be able to perform all tasks required of the Blends
Meal Plant Material Handler.Must have completed or have the ability
