Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking an accomplished and team-oriented
science educator to teach High School Physics, including
Calculus-based physics. The ideal applicant has a strong background
in physics and other sciences, teaching experience at the secondary
or college level, experience in and commitment to the effective use
of technology in teaching and learning, a willingness to take risks
and be innovative, and a teaching philosophy that is aligned with
the mission of our school. The RTHS Science Department values
inquiry-based learning and a collaborative work style, and
applicants should be proficient in building these skills.
Applicants will need to apply our personalized learning model to
help students become critical thinkers and independent learners
while developing science skills. They should be comfortable
leveraging data and a learning management system to accomplish
these goals. At RTHS, faculty members support clubs, sports, and
other extracurricular activities, as well as actively mentor
students. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Implement a science curriculum
that reflects the mission of RTHS and the model of personalized
learning. Teach 5 sections of high school science (primarily
physics) in a manner consistent with the vision and educational
philosophies of the school. Monitor 1 section of a study
hall/seminar period. Provide daily academic and personal mentoring
to a group of students. Lead and/or support at least one
extracurricular activity. Participate actively in the life of the
school community. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Bachelor’s degree in
related content area; advanced degree preferred. Seeking candidates
with a strong background in physics and knowledge of calculus.
Experience At least three years of teaching experience in a high
school or post-secondary classroom OR in-service experience in a
professional teacher education program. Five years of teaching
experience is preferred. NC licensure is not required but is an
asset. Advanced Placement experience preferred. STARTING DATE As
soon as possible
