Position Description:

Director, Global Science, Engineering and Commercialization (GSEC) Finance

The Director, GSEC Finance provides business support to the Global Science, Engineering and Commercialization (GSEC) Teams. The incumbent will provide a broad range of financial leadership and business services to the area and will contribute to the attainment of sound business results. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for the financial planning and reporting of the area's capital, expense and headcount forecasts and will also support business case developments as needed, . The role will provide direct business partner support to the GSEC LT and will offer the incumbent significant visibility to Finance and our Manufacturing Division leadership. The incumbent will also be tasked with providing recommendations and support for long term manufacturing strategies that will ensure future success for our Manufacturing Division and our Company.

The GSEC organization has the following mandate: To fortify our future, the company must be simplified and focused, which means simplifying our operations and unwinding accumulated complexities. The closer integration of science and technology commercialization and global engineering solutions organizations ensures the most robust technical and engineering support to our existing and future internal and external networks. The GSEC organization is comprised of the Large and Small Molecule Commercialization areas, Large and Small Molecule Tech Ops teams, Global Engineering Services (GES) and the Builder organization, which consists of several large key capital projects that are critical to maintaining low-cost and continuous supply of other products.

Primary Activities

  • Reports to Executive Director GPO/GSEC Finance and provides broad guidance and direction concerning the ongoing financial activities and policies of the area.
  • The incumbent will lead GSEC FP&A including the financial planning and reporting across all of the areas listed above and where applicable will work with the our Manufacturing Division site and HQ finance teams as well as the BSC's
  • Leads team of 3 Finance professionals
  • Responsible for the coordination of finance reviews, analysis, and interpretation of area variances, providing insightful commentary, recommending appropriate corrective actions and for guiding leadership teams to ensure that operating performance meets our Manufacturing Division scorecard metrics.
  • Drives and sponsors productivity initiatives across the GSEC organization
  • Sponsors the development of actual reporting and presents consolidated Forecast and LROP reviews to senior finance and our Manufacturing Division leadership.
  • Sponsors process improvements across our Manufacturing Division Finance and works across the enterprise to develop and implement end to end solutions.
  • Proactive member of Large Molecule Finance Leadership Team
    Position Qualifications:

    Education Minimum Requirement:

    * Bachelor's degree required

    Required Experience and Skills:

    • Minimum 10 years relevant finance experience
    • Problem Solving - Incumbent must be able to analyze complex business situations, focus on critical variables and assumptions and translate those into meaningful financial analyses and presentations that can improve business outcomes .
    • Expertise - Must have good understanding of financial modeling, product costing, basic accounting principles and a desire to learn more about our manufacturing environments.
    • Must be able to collaborate with and influence finance and non-finance senior leaders in the organization.
    • Leadership - Will be a financial thought leader in GSEC Finance, our Manufacturing Division Finance, across divisions (Human Health, our Research & Development Division & Corporate) and serve as a valued member of numerous GSEC Leadership Teams
    • Decision making - Significant autonomy working on GSEC Financial issues and processes advising the business on strategies for improvement and serving as the liaison between the VP of our Manufacturing Division Finance and the SVP of GSEC
      Preferred Experience and Skills:

      • MBA or CPA preferred
      • Systems skills: BPC/LPT, ThinkCell, Excel, Powerpoint, PowerBI
