UTC Aerospace Kidde is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Manager in Wilson, NC, to manage a team of Product Quality Engineers that work in the Aerospace Fire Suppression Industry. This position manages employees performing quality engineering activities to ensure that production and quality systems, special processes, products and services meet contract requirements and applicable regulatory agency and government regulations. The ideal candidate will have the necessary Quality Engineering skills to implement measurable results within the UTC Aerospace Quality Organization. The candidate will implement the strategic and tactical improvement activities that directly affect the UTAS-Wilson Operations and Business Units.
Provide quality engineering support, conduct technical investigations, perform relentless root cause analysis, and implement immediate risk containment measures and systemic mistake proof solutions to improve quality, cost, and delivery performance.
This position requires strong oral communication skills and computer skills with the ability to summarize complex issues into executive level presentations.
This position also requires the successful candidate to be an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will interface cross functionally within UTAS operations/ manufacturing / design / procurement / and the supply base.
Review manufacturing processes
Collaborate with internal customers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities
Experience with Advance Product Quality Process (APQP) and New Product Introduction
Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing)
Measurement System Analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Manage the development and refinement of Design and Process FMEA's (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Review documentation of inspection results across all areas. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, PPAP approval or product warrant submission
Monitor and report on product quality and performance, understanding any commercial issues and impacts
Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Manage customer PPM (Parts per Million), supplier PPM, supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators
Lead quality audits
Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management System (AS9100/ISO9001)
Implementing, monitoring, approving and/or closing FAI approvals, UPPAP requirements, sampling plans, and projects in the supply base.
Report outs on plan and progress will be made to executive team on a regular basis.
Travel will be required to aid supplier in training and closing actions.
Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, measurement systems analysis, process control plans, process flows, key process input/output analysis, and first article reports (AS9102).
Responsibilities will also include supporting/leading quality meetings/reviews and weekly stand up meetings in front of Quality Executive Leadership.
Responsible for quality improvement projects with the target to close the gap on "best in class" processes.
10 years of operations leadership roles with experience in a Quality leadership position desired.
A strong background in QMS and application of measurement, analysis & CI tools.
Strong operations background suitable to the facility production processes.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, RCCA.
Experience performing Design of Experiments (DOEs).
Six Sigma Black Belt training or certification preferred.
Experience in quality system, project management, product or technical process
Strong computer skills.
Strong communication skills and experience with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated leadership capability.

Experience with advanced aerospace/defense components manufacturing, machining, and assembly.
Experience with quality management system auditing and inspection of aerospace products is desirable
Experience working with and communicating with senior leaders and executives
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Business Management or related field and 5 years of experience in Quality (aerospace/automotive industry or related)
