Description of Work
Position provides direct administrative and clinical supervision to
clinical social workers within the clinical team. Position provides
clinical supervision to clinical in-home team. Work in this class
involves the supervision of clinical social workers that provide
intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases.
Services supervised require the flexible use of a wide range of
highly skilled casework, group work, and community organization
techniques in the psychosocial rehabilitation and adjustment of
clients. This position provides both administrative and clinical
social work supervision to clinical social workers. Position is
responsible for advanced and intensive social work services for a
population with severe and complicated disorders. The clients have
severe physical illnesses, developmental disabilities, or complex
mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Position assigns cases
to staff, coordinates workflow operations and supervises staff
through case review and consultation. Position is responsible for
staff training, resolving problems, and ensuring quality services
are provided. Position may provide input to program manager
regarding personnel and budget issues. Position provides clinical
supervision including consultation on therapy plans, practice
models and client diagnosis. Position administers and manages the
psychological services contract.
Supervisory responsibilities include: Thorough knowledge of social
work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application
to complex casework, group work, and community problems.
Considerable knowledge of a wide range of behavior and psychosocial
problems and their diagnosis and treatment. Considerable knowledge
of family and group dynamics, a range of intervention techniques,
resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which
govern the program, methods and principles of casework supervision
and training. Skill in establishing rapport with a client and in
applying techniques or assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and
psychological aspects of client problems. Ability to supervise,
train, or instruct staff at the clinical social worker level plus
students or interns in the program; ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with management, social
workers, clients, and families as well as civic, legal, medical,
social, and religious organizations. Ability to express ideas
clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Other leadership responsibilities include: participating in the
selection process of staff, monthly employee conferences, annual
performance appraisals, management of employee disciplinary
process, team staff meetings, attending local and State meetings.
Make presentations to Management Team and DSS Board.
Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and
maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with
staff, agency leadership, state and community partners. Effective
oral/written communication and organizational skills are essential.
Must have a valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
Must possess and be able to demonstrate intermediate computer
skills.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited
institution and two years of directly related experience; or a
bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited
institution and three years of directly related experience; or a
master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately
accredited institution and three years of directly related
experience; or a bachelor's degree in a human services field from
an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly
related experience; or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately
accredited institution and five years of directly related
experience; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
PREFERENCES: Master's degree in social work from an appropriately
accredited institution and two years of experience as a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker. Necessary Special Qualification
Requirements - Licensure by the North Carolina Social Work
Certification and Licensure Board as a Licensed Clinical Social
Worker. Only those applicants meeting the specific requirements
