Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: One year of nursing experience preferred License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required Must-Have: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and is accountable for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population, with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Evaluates developmental levels of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn. Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care. Participates in discussions with the interdisciplinary team regarding evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan. Utilizes nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding patients with complex care issues. With assistance, develops goals to promote professional growth. Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiates with supervisor. Maintains knowledge of activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration. Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems. Promotes cost-effective care. Provides feedback to co-workers. Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. Synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication to others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs.
