Job SummaryCompiles payroll data to maintain payroll records by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, insurance, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.
• Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, and computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
• Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
• Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
• Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments.
• Prorates expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records.
• Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
• Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
• Prepares and issues paychecks.
• Manages HSA and 401k plans.
• Submits Certified Payroll Reports as needed on a per job basis.
• Submits CCIP forms to GC monthly as needed on a per job basis.
• Performs special projects as directed.
• Assists Accounting Manager with quarterly processing and year-end closings.
• Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
• Serve as periodic backup switchboard operator.
• Work well with co-workers and promote an atmosphere of harmony and teamwork.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience Minimum of an associates degree from college or technical school preferably in finance or accounting; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required or willingness to pursue. Mulit-State payroll experience desired. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spectrum Accounting software; MS Outlook Contact Management systems; MS Internet Explorer Internet software; Spectrum Payroll systems; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software.
