Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $22.45 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application)

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health & Human Services - DSOHF - Longleaf. Plumber II job duties are the installation repair of commercial plumbing systems as well as safety precautions of the plumbing trade. Position will use of tools, materials & equipment commonly used in the performance of this trade; use building, life and safety codes; cut and thread pipe utilizing motorized and mechanical tools; solder cooper pipe and utilize the standard tools and materials required for this procedure; make material list for projects and submit to supervisor for review; work with commercial kitchen equipment; make up lead joints and install various types of plastic pipe; replace stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures in a hospital facility; use all hand and power tools associated with the plumbing trade. The Plumber II is subject to emergency call back.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems
  • Working knowledge of the safety precautions of the plumbing trade
  • Skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment commonly used in the performance of plumbing work
  • Ability to assume responsibility of lead worker in the performance of plumbing repair and installation
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement or construction of piping systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission
