Full time/Permanent role
Salary Range: Up to 75k salary

Education and Experience:
BS with 10+ years relevant experience or MS with 8+ years relevant experience or PhD with 3+ years relevant experience.
This position requires detailed knowledge of and experience with analytical chemistry.

Job Summary:
The Analytical Scientist will independently generate information and data in support of organizational objectives for developing new products.
The Analytical Scientist represents the AS department on project teams and is responsible for organizing/tracking data to draw independent conclusions and propose the next steps.
This individual must have a thorough understanding and in-depth working knowledge of industry guidance and awareness of regulatory issues.
At this level, the person may be a department expert in several analytical disciplines and/or techniques that would qualify the person as an authority in these areas. The person should be flexible and able to communicate effectively.
As an Analytical Scientist, the individual should possess the experiences and skills necessary to lead development and validation of a variety of analytical procedures; conduct complex laboratory experiments; and process and compile results and conclusions without supervision.
The Analytical Scientist should be able to independently identify problems and issues and subsequently recommend experimental strategies and solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
Generation of Data/Reports: Provide accurate, reliable information concerning products, raw materials and packaging components through physical and chemical testing. Maintain a laboratory notebook and complete all documentation with clear and accurate language in adherence with SOPs and cGMPs. Independently design studies, review, interpret, trend, and approve data as well as prepare scientific reports.
Degree of Independence and Work Efficiency: Under supervision, design and conduct complex laboratory procedures, interpret analytical data with regard to acceptability and consistency, and maintain analytical instrumentation. Plan and organize work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively to complete assignments within expected time frame.
Complies with Regulations: Works safely, and maintains awareness of health, environmental and regulatory issues. In-depth knowledge of GMPs; SOPs; USP; FDA and ICH guidelines; DEA, OSHA and EPA regulations; and an understanding of the intent and usual applications.
Technique Development and Problem Solving: Remains fully aware of state-of-the-art techniques in Analytical Sciences. Develops new techniques, and brings new instrumentation and approaches to the department. Demonstrates troubleshooting capabilities in analysis, procedure and instrumentation problems. Finds trends in datasets, uses findings to determine next steps, and develops systematic investigations to determine root cause.

Communication: Prepares methods, validation protocol and reports, SOPs and other required written documents suitable for regulatory submission and transfer to other Client divisions. Efficiently and effectively communicates analytical results, project status, and proposed next steps to project team leader. Excels in report writing and communication skills. May present technical work both internally and externally. Collaborates positively with peers, superiors and subordinates, if applicable; and influences others through successful negotiation and conflict resolution.
Supervisor Responsibility: Provides assistance, mentoring, and training to new colleagues in day-to-day activities, laboratory procedures, instrumentation and data analysis. Will act as department reviewer on official documents.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with all applicable instrumental and traditional methods of analysis is necessary.
The incumbent should possess working knowledge of statistical tools, laboratory computers and be able to learn and apply commercial software to data collection, handling and reporting.
This person must be at the of forefront departmental scientific objectives.
Knowledgeable about related scientific disciplines and may apply knowledge and expertise to new areas of research.
May conceive of new technologies & approaches and devise Client equipment configurations as appropriate.
During method development, a high degree of creativity and insight is required.
Concentrated expertise in a particular field is often required.

Supervisory Responsibilities (if Applicable):
This position may have some supervisory authority.
There is normally no one reporting to the Analytical Scientist.
However, when it is required, a temporary may be hired to assist him/her.
In this case the Analytical Scientist is directly responsible for taking part in selecting, training and supervising the temporary employee as well as the quality of data produced by the subordinate.
The Analytical Scientist also may serve as a mentor by helping less experienced personnel and leading by example.
The Analytical Scientist may take part in administering programs by serving on one or more committees that oversee various aspects of work, (e.g. cGMP, SOP, Safety, Computing) and may also be designated as a lead analyst on nonclinical project teams.
